Dr. Susan and I did two podcasts to set people up for success over the next few months. In both of them we talked about the pitfalls of talking about weight loss.
I would love to hear thoughts on how people talking about your weight makes you feel? I know for a lot of people it makes them only feel valued when they weigh less and that is often irrespective of what is healthy for that individual.
Weight loss is PERSONAL and should stay personal because frankly, most of us will be managing our weight all of our lives.
Your value to yourself (not to mention society) should always be more than just how little you weigh.
So this year when someone says "wow, you look great, how much weight have you lost" maybe a good answer is "not sure that matters but what does matter is how I feel about all the things I accomplished this year, want to talk about those?"
Here are those two podcasts, try to listen to them in order as they build off of one another (you can also find the Eat To Perform podcast on any of the platforms where you listen to podcasts):
1. Strategies for the Holiday's (this one is more about tactics and tips) https://anchor.fm/.../Strategies-for-the-Holidays...
2. Specifics on avoiding pitfalls this Holiday Season https://anchor.fm/.../Specifics-to-Avoid-Holiday-Pitfalls...
Even the programs that reverse don’t do a good job because they cave to the fear of their clients or they let AI (artificial intelligence) do the work.
