This is going to surprise you but the answer is more no than yes.
For weight loss.
If we are all being real here when you are eating less you have less energy. If you can keep your activities to slow burning activities like weight lifting with rest or walking it’s probably better for weight loss.
The reason is simple, eating less is stressful, the more stress you add onto that, the less effective things become.
But can your activity be 0. Once again, that answer is yes but here is the problem with that scenario…..
The single biggest thing you can do to stay WEIGHT STABLE is to INCREASE activity. So while activity might not be CRAZY important for a weight loss phase going from 0-100 in terms of activity is very difficult to do.
It also sets up the wrong narrative in your brain as if you are “earning” food when in fact you are “using” your food to THRIVE.
The next logical question should be “if I am still eating less how do I get the energy to workout more?”
The answer to that question is that you shouldn’t still be eating less.
If you follow this page you know this.
Diets are meant to end, we have a way that we do it that data supports is a VERY GOOD WAY to do it.
But the reason why people gain weight back is often not because they over eat (I mean it’s a little bit that but that’s not the big reason).
The big reason is that as energy comes back they either don’t have the habits established (which is why exercise shouldn’t go down to 0, even if it’s just walking) or don’t add activity once their diet cycle is over.
Which brings me to my last point, our data supports 3 month cycles and within that 3 month cycle you aren’t at your lowest calories MOST OF THE TIME.
The single biggest reason that people fail at dieting is not because they don’t know how to eat less. It’s because they adopt an eat less all of the time mentality. Ever heard “it’s not a diet it’s a lifestyle”. Usually those people are under-eating most of the time.
Lastly if you somehow think after reading this that you are going to be motivated after a long drawn out cycle think again. You have to have the habits in place so that when food comes back you can up your activity level (and sometimes what you do) as food normalizes.
For almost everyone they don’t do it this way which leads to a diet cycle to nowhere.
Trust me, my way is better.
Mentally, to do this right coaching helps. I did it alone but that probably cost me about a year chasing the wrong rabbits. If you think you need help click the link below and a coach can walk you through what your EXACT plan will look like
Also you can talk to a coach LIVE using the button on the bottom right on that page
Even the programs that reverse don’t do a good job because they cave to the fear of their clients or they let AI (artificial intelligence) do the work.
